During our busy lives, the last thing we want to do on a Saturday is to spend most of the day trying to fix those frustrating odd jobs in the bathroom.

Read on to find our simple solutions to your bathroom problem.

Clogged Toilet

One of the easiest ways to fix blocked toilets if the blockage is easy for you to reach (while probably being one of the most off putting ways), is to chuck on a pair of rubber gloves and go fishing in the toilet for the blockage, trying to unclog the toilet yourself.

If that doesn’t work, then the next step to solving your toilet problems is to get a toilet plunger and keep pumping the blocked toilet drain until the water level goes down.

Drain Clog

Drains leading on from your sink, bath and shower can get blocked incredibly easily. From hair, dirt and soap, the water can noticeably start to drain away a lot slower, or completely stop draining away all together.

To put an end to this annoyingly common problem of blocked drain, one easy, simple and popular way to unclog a drain is through the use of hot water, baking soda and vinegar.

  1. Pour some boiled water down the clogged drain.
  2. Pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain and leave it for five minutes.
  3. Pour a solution of a cup of vinegar and a cup of boiled water down the drain and leave it for a following 10 minutes.
  4. Finally, pour a jug of boiling water down the drain to rinse away the dirt that was causing the drain blockage.

Tap Connector Leaking

There is nothing more annoying than the sound of a dripping tap. Not only is there that constant sound of the never ending drip of water when it hits the sink basin or the bath, but it can also cause long term water damage.

To solve this issue, prepare some towels by the pipes in case there is any water remaining in the pipes and then turn off the main water supply with the stop cock and tighten the tap with a wrench.

Remove Limescale From Taps

The majority of us have no doubt gone through the struggle of trying to scrub the built up limescale off of the taps. A lot of the time though, no matter how much you scrub, it just seems impossible to remove and if anything it can scratch your tap, creating more damage than it’s worth.

Limescale can occur if you live in an area with hard water, which is why to avoid this it is recommended you install a water softener.

However, before you install your water softener, ensure you check with the local water supplier so you can find out what the water hardness and the sodium levels are so you can accordingly set the water softener.

Meanwhile, if you are going to install a water softener, check to make sure you know how to maintain it properly, as it needs to meet The Water Supply Regulations requirements.

Meanwhile, if you are searching for a way to remove that infuriating limescale, try using lemon juice or vinegar.
